Head from Auckland to visit three of New Zealand's top sightseeing spots - the Bay of Islands, Rotorua and Waitomo Glow Worm Caves - all in one package. Spread out over two days, you'll depart Auckland on the first day and set out for the spectacular Bay of Islands where you'll board a purpose-built dolphin seeking vessel and cruise the waters of this famously beautiful stretch of ocean, keeping an eye out for the abundant marine life in the waters and paying a visit to the iconic Hole in the Rock and Cape Brett Lighthouse.

On day two, you'll travel south from Auckland through lush farmland in pursuit of Waitomo Caves - a fabulous network of limestone formations and home to a glittering colony of glow worms. On a guided tour through the caves, you'll witness stalactites, stalagmites and various other ancient rock formations along the way, all capped off with a magical boat ride through the glow worms' home. Follow it up with a tasty picnic lunch and head on to Rotorua - a geothermal wonderland home to all manner of impressive natural volcanic phenomena.

Tour an organic working farm, see sheep being shorn and watch live sheep dogs at the Agrodome, soak in the Maori culture of Te Puia, and witness the eerily wonderful Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley with its various geysers and hot springs.

The-Anh 3 years ago The weather wasn't so kind on both our tour days. The rain really dampened our trip. Besides the weather which we can't control, our driver, Kenny, was very friendly and informative. He spoke almost nonstop going forth each day but not on the way back so we could relax and enjoy the ride back to Auckland. We spent only 2.5 hours touring the Bay of Islands. We didn't cruise to the Hole in the Rock because of rough waters. Overall, it was such a long day (7:45-20:10) for just 2.5 hours spent cruising the bay. We enjoyed the Waitomo and Rotorua tour. Again, because of the rain, the cave was restricted in certain areas due to flooding. Our cave tour guide was very easy to understand (not too strong accent). We then went to Agrodome which we saw a demonstration of sheep shearing. We got to feed the sheeps which was fun, however, expect your shoes to be covered in poops afterward. Overall, we would have enjoyed the tour much more if the weather was in our favor. Lunch was a sandwich on the second day only. The first day nothing was provided in term of food and water. So bring something to snack on unless you want to purchase snacks at the coffee rest stop.
This Combo is a great way to see some of the main attractions while using Auckland as a base

This Combo is a great way to see some of the main attractions while using Auckland as a base. The Bay of Islands is beautiful and we saw many dolphins during our boat trip which was amazing. The next day was a bit rushed trying to get around Waitomo Caves, Agradome and on to Rotorua but this was due to traffic congestion in the morning and unfortunately could not be avoided. My only disappointment is that I didn't get time to look in any of the gift shops during the second day so missed out on getting any souvenirs.

I bought a 2-day travel package for NZ last year. It included two road trips from Auckland to Bay of Islands & Roturua...I liked our leader, he had good knowledge & we enjoyed his company. All good:)

With only 3 days in Auckland on a stopover
Giovanni Saliceti 5 years ago

With only 3 days in Auckland on a stopover, we wanted to see as much as possible, but decided against driving since the U.S. drives on the opposite side and that could make for a stressful experience. We were very pleased that we booked the two tours that not only got us to and from our destinations, but also provided commentary and wonderful experiences. On Bay of Islands, despite weather conditions that could've dampened our day, we still got out to see the islands, and even some dolphins on the "Dolphin Seeker" while listening to the history of European settlement in the area. On our trip to Rotorua, we stopped at the Waitomo Caves- which was an unforgettable experience. Really should be seen at least once! Then, we got dropped off at the Agrodome for a farm tour! We even got to feed and pet some baby sheep! Finally, our visit to Te Puia was fantastic. The cultural show was wonderful and visiting the kiwi's and experiencing geothermal activity was truly unforgettable. We couldn't have asked for better experiences from our guides/ drivers and all the people who helped make this such a memorable vacation.

Immerse yourself in traditional Maori culture. From the landscapes to the food, everything is authentic designed to give you the best possible experience. Bring your appetite and sense of adventure.
