What you need to know

The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory is filled with interesting and eccentric exhibits that showcase why this museum is a must visit. With so many unique things to see, spending hours at the great attraction is easy. You’ll discover rooms dedicated to Aboriginal art and history filled with carvings from Tiwi Islands, bark paintings from Arnhem Land and more.

There is also an entire section devoted to Cyclone Tracy that graphically shows the true effects of this devastating act of nature. Discover the full power of the wind as you stand in a blackened room and listen to the whirring sound equivalent to what was heard during the cyclone.

Possibly the most memorable however is the stuffed animal collection complete with Sweetheart - a 5 metre long, 780kg saltwater crocodile famous for its attacks on several fishing dinghies on the Finniss River.

The Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory has free admission, making this great attraction even more appealing. Filled with so much to see and do, making the time to experience all the weird and wonder of this place on your next visit to Darwin is common sense!
