Tour the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory with experienced guides on a 2 day 4WD camping tour from Darwin! This Kakadu adventure has it all including a wildlife cruise to see crocodiles, great hikes to impressive view points, stops at waterfalls, swimming in serene water holes, Indigenous rock art and the chance to sleep in the Australian Outback under the stars!

Begin the tour with accomodation transfers from Darwin to the Corroboree Billabong to spot crocodiles and flying foxes on a wildlife cruise before continuing onto Kakadu National Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch at East Alligator River and afternoon stops at Nourlangie Rock to view ancient Aboriginal rock art and the Gunwhardewharde lookout for views over the escarpment. In the evening get settled in at your outback camp site with tents and swags supplied plus a delicious Aussie BBQ dinner featuring a tasting plate of Kangaroo, Buffalo and Crocodile Meat.

Day 2 is an early start to join a series of guided hikes to swim in the Gunlom Falls or the Yurmimik. The 2 Day Kakadu Camping adventure returns to Darwin at 5.30pm. This tour runs during the wet season from November to April on Wednesday and Saturday.

Itinerary

  • Your guide will have excellent knowledge of the area and of the Aboriginal history specialising in Kakadu. The areas you visit are both environmentally and culturally sensitive and are restricted to special access permit holders only, of which are included in this tour package.

Day One

  • Departing from your selected Darwin accommodation begin your adventure towards Kakadu to join a wildlife cruise on Corroborree Billabong. Bring along your camera and snap some fantastic photos of the local wildlife. Disembark the cruise, we continue your drive towards the Kakadu National Park
  • Continue on with your journey toward Kakadu National Park, stop to enjoy lunch by the East Alligator River ban. Keep an eye out for possible crocs and flying foxes sightings. After the cruise, we commence our drive toward Kakadu National Park
  • Arrive at the Nourlangie Rock, an ancient Aboriginal occupational and art site. Explore the sites before walking up to Gunwhardewharde lookout for an exceptional view over the escarpment, including Nawurlandja
  • Visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre, before the tour continues on to Mardugal Safari camp nestled in the heart of Kakadu
  • Dinner tonight is a traditional Aussie BBQ with an opportunity to sample a complimentary tasting plate of kangaroo, buffalo and crocodile meat
  • Tonight's accommodation is camping, walking distance is 3km and included meals are lunch and dinner

Day Two

  • Rise bright and early, pack up camp and head to either Gunlom Falls (when accessible) or Yurmikmik. Both walk options will get your heart rate up, however, you will be rewarded with a refreshing swim.
  • Visit Bowali visitor centre before departing Kakadu National Park and heading back to Darwin
  • Return to Darwin approximately 5.30pm
It is recommended to have a moderate to high fitness level as hikes at times can be rugged dirt tracks, the tour hikes should not be too challenging for you.
